The Rope
by Brandon Berry

One a sunny day,
a clear blue sky,
I went to the rope,
hoping I would not die.

I walked down the trail.
The sand was very hot.
I saw birds fly,
in one big flock.

I reached the water.
It felt very good.
I swam to the rope,
and I wondered if I should.

I climbed up the hill,
grabbed the long rope.
I flew through the sky,
and prayed for hope.

As I flew through the sky,
and I let go of the rope,
I hit the water hard,
knowing something broke.

I knew something was wrong.
I could not swim.
When I started sinking,
it got very dim.

As I sank deeper,
with nothing to say,
I lay at the bottom of the pit,
day after day.

True Love
by Brandon Berry
for Ashley Davis

One day at school,
I got into a friend's car,
to see this beautiful girl,
shining bright as a star.

I took a glance at her,
she smiled back at me.
At that moment,
I knew we were meant to be.

We went to her house,
all by ourselves.
That's when I did something,
I couldn't resist myself.

She asked me out,
we fell in love.
Couldn't stand being apart,
like two little doves.

It's been seven months now,
we have faded away.
I sit and wonder if she loves me,
and still feels the same way.

I lie in my bunk,
praying to God,
that when I walk out that jail door,
I still have my true love.

I love you Ashley,
Brandon.

75 Days Without You
by Brandon Berry
for Ashley Davis

Sitting in here,
wondering what to do.
Sitting in here,
thinking of nothing but you.

You fill my mind,
you fill my heart
I really can't stand,
us being apart.

I close my eyes,
and see your sweet face.
It brings my mind back,
from outerspace.

It spins and twirls,
and fills with rage.
What I wouldn't give,
to be out of this cage.

To be with you,
and make a new start.
Instead of in here,
with a heavy, broken heart.

It feels like a weight,
sitting dead on my chest.
I can't even get
A good night's rest.

I toss and I turn,
my pillow wet with tears.
Losing you,
is the worst of my fears.

So don't turn your back,
just stay by my side.
Don't leave me lonely,
on this roller coaster ride.

Love you Ashley,
love Brandon

When We're Together
by Brandon Berry
for Ashley Davis

When we're together,
the world stands still.
Us meeting,
must have been God's will.

When we're together,
the birds always sing.
You're holding me,
under an angel's wing

When we're together,
the flowers always bloom,
life without you,
is like doom.

When we're together,
the skies are never gray.
since we've met,
you've made my life a glorious day.

When we're together,
your lips touch mine.
This feeling sends,
a chill down my spine.

When we're together,
I can't help but touch.
That's because,
I love you so much.

When we're together,
on the beach at night,
I'm so glad ,
that things are just right.

When we're together,
and you take my hand,
I'm just so happy,
that you understand.

When we're together,
It's you I trust.
Baby, I know this feeling,
is more than lust.

Love you Ashley,
Love Brandon
